Real Madrid Transfer News: Lucas Silva Eyes 'Dream' Move, Ajax Wonderkid Signs

Rory MarsdenDec 4, 2014

Cruzeiro midfielder Lucas Silva's move to Real Madrid is looking increasingly likely. The 21-year-old Brazilian described a potential switch to the Bernabeu as a "dream come true" on Wednesday.

Speaking to SporTV (h/t Marca), Silva seemed to confirm he will be making the switch to Real but could not say whether it would be in January or next summer:

"

I don't know if they are going to propose me joining them midway through or at the end of the season, whether I'll stick around for the Copa Libertadores or not. I don't yet know what's going to happen. However it'd be interesting to stay for the Libertadores and then join them for pre-season.

His Cruzeiro side has already won the Brazilian league with one match remaining in the season, and the Copa Libertadores gets underway in February.

No bid from Real Madrid has yet been tabled for the talented Silva. But as the Mirror's Ed Malyon points out, the player's recent comments seem to indicate the move is on:

According to Malyon's report, Cruzeiro's expected asking price for Silva is around the £15 million mark, the player having been voted the Brazilian league's best defensive midfielder for the season.

He is certainly a talented player with terrific distribution and an ability to start attacks from deep, and at 21 years old, Real would be making a likely long-term investment for the future.

Carlo Ancelotti's current central midfield trio of Sami Khedira, Toni Kroos and Luka Modric would undoubtedly limit Silva's playing time should he make the switch soon. However, his potential is such that Los Blancos would be wise to bring him in since he could well be a future star on the European stage.

Real Madrid have also confirmed the signing of another young star, 16-year-old playmaker Mink Peeters, who has officially signed a contract with Madrid having previously been on trial with the club.

The former Ajax youth player has now been included in the Juvenil A squad at Real Madrid and is an exciting talent, describing himself as "quick, with good vision" and "hard for the opposition to handle," per the club's website (h/t Carmen Colino of AS).

Real Madrid are seemingly looking to invest in the future of their team and look to be forming a core group of youngsters in the set-up at the Bernabeu, with Guillem Balague, B/R UK's Spanish football expert, speculating about their next big signing below:

Ancelotti's men are currently flying in all competitions. They have won 17 games on the bounce, but they are clearly not prepared to rest on their laurels and look to be investing well in young talent.

The likely signing of Silva is an exciting prospect for the club. He looks to be a high-quality central midfielder who will add even further depth to Real's frighteningly strong squad.
