Gasol Injures Knee vs. Rockets
Memphis Grizzlies center Marc Gasol will undergo tests Thursday to determine the extent of a right knee injury suffered in Wednesday's 105-96 loss to the Houston Rockets.
Fox sideline reporter Rob Fischer notes that Gasol hopes the injury is just a bruise:
Gasol, among the first-month leaders for MVP, had eight points and seven rebounds on 4-of-8 shooting, gutting through the knee injury to play 25 minutes. The Rockets held a 94-68 lead after the third quarter, allowing both sides to give their starters rest.
Gasol came into Wednesday averaging 20.1 points, 8.1 rebounds and 1.5 blocks per game. He's been the catalyst on both ends of the floor for Memphis, which is 0.5 games behind the Golden State Warriors for first place in the Western Conference.
The Grizzlies host the San Antonio Spurs on Friday. His status for that game will likely be determined by the result of Thursday's tests.
