Trent Richardson Says He'll Jump into Dawg Pound If He Scores vs. Browns

Kyle NewportDec 3, 2014

On Sunday, Indianapolis Colts running back Trent Richardson will play in his first game in Cleveland since being traded by the Cleveland Browns last year. If he finds the end zone, he plans on hanging out with the fans who used to cheer him.

Richardson was drafted by the Browns with the third overall pick in the 2012 draft but was traded for a 2014 first-round pick early during the 2013 season. It was a pretty shocking move at the time, but it doesn't look like a bad move in retrospect.

If the 24-year-old running back scores a touchdown, the Browns' Dawg Pound better be ready for him.

"I get in the end zone, get a touchdown, I'm going to jump in the Dawg Pound," Richardson said, per ESPN.com's Mike Wells. "I know I have some true fans out there, and I know they still love me."

Richardson rushed for 950 yards and 11 touchdowns as a rookie with Cleveland. However, he ran for only 105 yards and no scores in two games before the trade. Since arriving in Indianapolis, Richardson has averaged just 3.1 yards per carry and has just six rushing touchdowns in 25 games.

The Colts running back did talk a little bit more about returning to the place where his professional career began.

"I don't want to say it's a revenge game, but it's going to be a lot of emotion put in this game," Richardson said.

Richardson hasn't lived up to expectations since being drafted, but he will have some extra motivation for Sunday's game.
