Manchester Utd vs. Stoke: Goals, Highlights from Premier League Match

Stoke headed to Old Trafford on Tuesday evening with an admirable record on the road, but the Potters also know they have lost their last 11 matches at Old Trafford (as per @OptaJoe).

Stoke nearly conceded in the 17th minute, when an Asmir Begovic error gifted the ball to Ander Herrera, who blasted the ball high over the bar.

However, the Spaniard soon recovered from that terrible miss by providing a superb high cross for Marouane Fellaini, who nodded down a brilliant header into the left side of the net.

Manchester United's hopes of a fifth Premier League clean sheet this season were dashed in the 39th minute when Steven N'Zonzi struck a superb 20-yard drive past David De Gea. This great strike followed some excellent work down the left from Bojan.

The Red Devils took the lead once again in the 59th minute, when Juan Mata curled in a free kick from the right side. Marcos Rojo ran off celebrating as if he had sent the ball into the net, but the goal was officially given to the Spaniard.

James Wilson enjoyed a few great moments in his second Premier League start, nearly scoring a stunning solo goal shortly before he was substituted for Radamel Falcao.

Stoke came agonisingly close to earning a point on two occasions in injury time, but were denied by David De Gea. Firstly, the Spaniard did incredibly well to keep a point-blank Mame Diouf header out of the net.

Moments later, De Gea put his body in front of a Marko Arnautovic shot before Ashley Young saved a Diouf shot on the line. The ball was two-thirds of the way into the net, but just a few inches short of rescuing a result for the visitors. 

The match ended 2-1 to United, who earned their fourth straight Premier League win.
