UNDER 7 San Francisco Giants/Philadelphia Phillies:
Probably the best pitching matchup of the day takes place in San Francisco this afternoon as the red hot Joe Blanton takes the hill for the Phils against reigning Cy Young winner Tim Lincecum and the Giants.

Blanton (7-4, 4.11) comes into the game as the hottest pitcher in the game. He’s been unreal lately, as he’s 3-0 with a 1.82 ERA in his last 5 starts. The Phillies just got a huge boost from Cliff Lee in his first start as a Phil, and with Lee, Cole Hamels, and Blanton pitching like they are, the Phillies could be the favorites to repeat as World Champions.

Lincecum (11-3, 2.30) has been his usual dominant stuff this season, and he shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon. His last start was his best of 2009, as he pitched 9 innings allowing no runs and striking out 15. Expect a tremendous pitchers duel today in San Fran.

San Diego Padres -120 over Milwaukee Brewers:
Clayton Richard was scheduled to pitch for the White Sox 24 hours ago, and tonight he makes his debut as a Padre. San Diego acquired the lefty at the trade deadline as they sent Jake Peavy to the White Sox for 4 pitchers. The deal should help both teams as the White Sox are trying to win the AL Central, while the Pads look for the future.

Richard has been pitching really well lately, as he’s allowed just 2 runs in his last 16 innings of work. The move to the NL will help him as the lineups are weaker than in the AL.

Mike Burns will throw for the Brewers, and he’s been a mess lately. Burns (2-3, 6.30) has given up 28 hits and 20 runs in his last 20 innings pitched. He’s 2-2 with a 7.52 ERA in his last 5 starts. The Padres aren’t the best offensive team in the league, but they should have enough to beat the Brewers tonight.
