Meriweather Suffers Toe Injury
Brian McNally of 106.7 The Fan provided the details on Meriweather's status, along with what Washington will likely to do make up for his absence:
Phillip Thomas is the top candidate to take over in Meriweather's stead. The 2013 fourth-round pick out of Fresno State racked up 84 tackles, eight interceptions and three defensive touchdowns in his final college campaign (h/t CFBStats.com) but has yet to make a considerable impact in the pros.
This could be Thomas' chance to shine after his own injuries, including a Lisfranc sprain in his rookie year and other issues, have held him back. Meanwhile, Meriweather's future will be even more up in the air if he can't play the rest of the year as he's an unrestricted free agent this offseason.
