Real Madrid will head into the second leg of their Copa del Rey meeting against Cornella on Tuesday without a selection of their first-string stars. Cristiano Ronaldo will be among those to miss out.

Manager Carlo Ancelotti confirmed he would be resting a host of his main men for the round-of-32 fixture, per the official Real Madrid Twitter account:

All five of those players mentioned featured in Saturday's 2-1 win over Malaga, a result that saw Los Merengues record their 16th consecutive victory, breaking the previous club record.

Ancelotti also confirmed Jese Rodriguez will make his return to football against the third-division outfit after spending eight-and-a-half months on the sidelines with an anterior cruciate ligament injury:

Real won the first leg of this clash 4-1 and, even with the use of some fringe players, will be expected to seal the result and advance to the competition's next stage.

Ronaldo has been heavily involved in the club's recent successes, but in a bid to maintain his prolific form, Ancelotti is right to hand his talisman a rest when possible.

Toni Kroos and Karim Benzema have also played prominent roles in the club's winning streak and are equally deserving of their break in a bid to stave off fatigue.

Ancelotti will use the midweek fixture as a chance to examine the likes of Sami Khedira and Jese in seeing what they can offer the starting XI, with depth set to become an increasingly important aspect of Real's campaign.
