Miles Taken to Hospital After Suffering Abdominal Injury vs. Bills

Cleveland Browns wide receiver Miles Austin was taken to the hospital after Sunday's 26-10 loss to the Buffalo Bills after complaining of abdominal pain.

Daryl Ruiter of CBS Cleveland noted that the team had no specific diagnosis on Austin's condition. Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer provided an update:

Austin played the entire game Sunday, finishing with seven receptions for a team-high 86 yards. Johnny Manziel, who entered the game for starter Brian Hoyer, sent his first career completion Austin's way.

In his first season with the Browns, Austin has 47 receptions for 568 yards and two touchdowns. He is second behind Andrew Hawkins on the team in both categories.

With Josh Gordon back in the fold, it's unlikely that Austin's absence will have much of an adverse effect. Hawkins can step into a more solidified role as the underneath option to Gordon's downfield threat, while rookie Taylor Gabriel can also receive extra snaps.

The Browns' loss Sunday dropped them to 7-5 with a game against the Indianapolis Colts coming next week. While it's likely they can survive without Austin, they'd be much happier if he were in the lineup as their playoff hopes hang in the balance.
