People in Sports Who Go Locker-Room Crazy
I'm guessing there aren't many of us who have spent too much time in a locker room on the college or pro level.
But thanks to cameras capturing some of the safe-for-work action, fans are given an all-access look at what goes on behind the scenes of our favorite teams.
Sometimes, it's just a coach giving a pep talk before or after a game, while other moments appear to be, well, a lot more intense.
Those are the times that I'm giving appreciation to today, because we have seen a lot of guys go HAM to get fired up—and these are some of the best.
The Boston Red Sox
1 of 12While the 2004 Boston Red Sox team that won the World Series is often referred to as "a bunch of idiots," the 2013 world champs might want to be considered as a bunch of hooligans.
With the team bonding behind their beard-growing ways for good luck, the BoSox looked like mountain men running around with baseball bats and gloves—and they happened to be really good.
So, after defeating the St. Louis Cardinals in the Fall Classic, the team partied as only crazy, bearded, wild men would—with a lot of beer and shirtless roaming around the clubhouse.
The North Carolina Tar Heels
2 of 12So you want to know how big the UNC-Duke rivalry is—even outside of just basketball—then take a look at this video to find out.
After beating the rival Blue Devils by 25 points on Duke's home field—the first win for the Tar Heels in the series since 2011—the team didn't party lightly.
That's because they broke out the baby-blue spray paint and went all Banksy on the visiting locker room, doing as much as $25,000 worth of damage, covering walls and the victory bell in UNC colors.
I mean, beating a rival is amazing and all, but $25k is a lot of money to pay for a celebration.
Marshawn Lynch
3 of 12Remember the old saying, "Manny being Manny," regarding former MLB slugger Manny Ramirez and his crazy antics that he seemed to always get himself into?
Well, it might be time for people to start using the phrase, "Beast Mode being Beast Mode," in reference of Seattle Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch.
Following his team's victory in the Super Bowl last year, Lynch—who is one of the most perplexing athletes going right now—might not have gone wild like a few others on this list, but he did dance to whatever he was bumpin' in his headphones around the entire locker room—by himself, no less.
The best part about this, though, might be the fact that no one found it odd at all, letting the runner flail around as if it was just a common thing.
The Minnesota Gophers
4 of 12With his Minnesota Gophers football team enjoying their best season since 2003, it was OK for head coach Jerry Kill to break it down a little bit following a big win against the Iowa Hawkeyes, right?
I don't know if there's actually a correct answer to that, but either way, Kill "killed" it with this hilarious jubilation while surrounded by his players, who were bouncing around and cheering him on.
And seeing how the coach and team have done this before—most notably following a victory over Penn State last season—it shows they're just a bunch of party dudes.
The Cleveland Browns
5 of 12Typically speaking, NFL locker rooms shouldn't be as hyped up following a win as the Cleveland Browns players were after beating the Tennessee Titans, 29-28, earlier this year.
Sure, the Browns won by the narrowest of margins, on the road, pushing their record to 2-2 at the time, but was bumping music and having guys like quarterback Brian Hoyer and offensive tackle Joe Thomas bust a move really necessary?
When you find out that the team overcame a 28-3 deficit, outscoring the Titans with 26 unanswered points for the win, then, yeah, it's a little better understood—and better appreciated.
The Chicago Blackhawks
6 of 12All hockey players are typically known as being party animals—just look at the amount of guys who have used the top of the Stanley Cup as their personal chalice over the years.
But after winning their second championship in four years in 2013, the Chicago Blackhawks showed they might be the craziest bunch of them all, holding nothing back in celebrating like it was a New Year's Eve party.
With players like Patrick Kane on the team, who has been known for having quite the good time, it's no wonder the Hawks didn't spare a thing when back in their locker room.
The Michigan State Spartans
7 of 12There are very few things sweeter in college sports than beating your rival, so after the Michigan State Spartans did just that last season against the Michigan Wolverines, it was only natural for the players, coaching staff and, well, anyone wearing forest green to go HAM.
And HAM they went—especially in the locker room.
Like others on this list, the Spartans celebration looked more like a club on a weekend night than anything else, with players bouncing and chanting up and down and, it appears, even someone riding the shoulders of another person.
This just looks like a hell of a lot of fun, doesn't it?
The Texas A&M Aggies
8 of 12While the rest of the season didn't go as planned for the Texas A&M Aggies football team in 2014—finishing with a record of just 7-5—the opening game of their first campaign since the departure of the polarizing Johnny Manziel went well.
After many assumed the Aggies would get beaten by the South Carolina Gamecocks on the road in the first game of the year, A&M came out blazing, riding the hot hand of Kenny Trill, aka Kenny Hill, who tossed three touchdown passes for 511 yards and dropped a cool 52 points on the Gamecocks.
As you can see, that fired up head coach Kevin Sumlin, who celebrated with his team in the locker room as if it were spring break with no parents.
The Louisville Cardinals
9 of 12Prior to leaving for the University of Texas before the 2014 season, Charlie Strong had a pretty successful run with the Louisville Cardinals from 2010-13.
And while he had a few very memorable moments, the one most ingrained into his mind has to be the time he crowd-surfed on his players' arms following a big win over the West Virginia Mountaineers in 2001—especially considering his team was a two-touchdown underdog.
A coach that's willing to get caught up in such partying is one that I would definitely play for.
The Air Force Falcons
10 of 12Contrary to popular belief, this video is not of a bunch of soccer fans dancing in the club, boozed up and cheering for their favorite team.
This is actually the reaction the Air Force Falcons had following a win over the Boise State Broncos earlier this football season, defeating the Broncs on that blue turf of theirs, 28-14.
So why were the Falcons so exuberant?
The 14-point loss was the worst that Boise State had since entering the Mountain West Conference back in 2011, leaving the entire Falcons family celebrating like wild men.
The Duke Blue Devils Assistant Football Coach
11 of 12You know that line in the movie Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby where he says that he "wakes up in the morning and pisses excellence?"
Yeah, well, this Duke football assistant coach might actually have proven it.
Getting his team as pumped up as possible to take on its bitter rival, the North Carolina Tar Heels, Blue Devils graduate assistant Chris Hoover didn't downplay how stoked he was for the team to clash against the baby-blue team from just a few miles away.
There are a few who throw a shoe, but a chair? I mean, Hoover tossed that thing around like a rag doll.
Madison Bumgarner
12 of 12There's nothing better than advancing in a postseason, making a run for a championship to put an athlete's name down in history as part of a title-winning team.
And after each round of advancing, it's a small victory for players—especially in baseball—as they're often seen celebrating after closing out each series because of the intensity and quickness with which the playoffs can come and go.
For San Francisco Giants pitcher Madison Bumgarner, he took things to a whole new level, though, first chugging four beers after beating the Pittsburgh Pirates in the NL Wild Card Game and then going for five brews after leading his team to the NLCS.
Save for a killer hangover the next morning, there were a few who thought they could match the lefty's feat, with my main girl Katie Nolan maybe putting together one of my favorite attempts at it.
