Colt McCoy, DeSean Jackson, Pierre Garcon's Post-Week 13 Fantasy Reaction

Matt FitzgeraldNov 30, 2014

Colt McCoy became the third Washington Redskins quarterback to log multiple starts this season in Week 13, and it was on him to distribute the ball to his most viable receivers in DeSean Jackson and Pierre Garcon.

Coach Jay Gruden's West Coast offense, reliant on short, timing passes, is an ideal fit for McCoy's skill set, which doesn't include transcendent arm talent. Instead of relying on Jackson and Garcon to blow the top off the Indianapolis Colts' defense with their speed, fantasy owners had to hope for big things after the catch.

Anyone who started McCoy in fantasy on Sunday had to be in a two-QB format, as no teams have a bye this week. McCoy put up big numbers, yet it came more as a result of soft coverage and the Colts' prolific offense lighting Washington up in a 49-27 shootout win for Indy.

NFL Network's Albert Breer was impressed with what he saw from McCoy:

Jackson has been as explosive as advertised in his first year in the nation's capital, having averaged 20.4 yards per reception entering Week 13. McCoy's lack of arm strength hurts Jackson's value, though the pair did connect for a 42-yard touchdown.

Unfortunately, injury issues may make Jackson less dependable moving forward, per the team's official Twitter account:

Even against unfavorable matchups, Jackson's explosiveness makes him a must start, though his upside may be capped with McCoy under center.

As for Garcon, he has had a massively disappointing 2014 campaign and has even become a shaky flex commodity. Those who've somehow been patient with him to this point should have known better than to start Garcon Sunday, with a number of superior alternatives hopefully available.
