Sebastian Telfair Waived by Thunder: Latest Details, Comments and Reaction
The Oklahoma City Thunder announced in a press release that they released guard Sebastian Telfair on Wednesday.
During his lone season with the Thunder, Telfair played in 16 games and averaged 8.4 points, 2.8 assists and 1.9 rebounds.
Telfair filled a role for the team when Russell Westbrook suffered a fractured hand. Thunder coach Scott Brooks recently discussed whether or not Westbrook will play on Friday night, per Anthony Slater of The Oklahoman:
"Don't know," Brooks said. "Just focus on his work he put in today and continue to build on that. He'll get evaluated later on this week and we'll make some of those decisions later on."![]()
Since being drafted by the Portland Trail Blazers 13th overall in the 2004 NBA draft, Telfair has bounced around with nine different teams. It's likely that he'll find another landing spot following the release.
For Oklahoma City, it should be interesting to see where the team heads from here with only 15 players on the roster. If Westbrook does return soon, the Thunder would be even closer to full force after letting go of Telfair.
