Are The Bay Street Bullies Back????
Hey Leafs Nation. Are you excited about your Maple Leafs this year??? If you like size and toughness well you're going to get plenty of that with this years team. With the addition of Colton Orr the Leafs now have a top tier enforcer something they were definately lacking last year.
The defense is looking a little tougher with the addition of Francois Beauchemin and Garnett Exelby and with Beauchemin you get a good point shot man on the power play, and both are known for clearing people and pucks from around the front of the net. Oppossing forwards won't find it as easy to get down low and cycle the puck in the Leafs end this season against the likes of Mike Komisarek.

They may not have picked up Tavares but the Leafs already have some pretty good forwards to throw the puck at the net. I believe Hagman, and Stajan are due for a 20 plus goal season and with the addition of Wayne Primeau grinding away at the oppositions defense the 20 plus goals for Hagman or Stajan could be a reality. Not forgetting Alexi Ponikarovsky and Jason Blake.
The big question is...? Do the Leafs have what they need between the pipes. Toskala is a great goalie when he's on his game but last year he seemed to be fighting the puck on a regular basis, made some highlight reel stops but was inconsistant throughout most of the season. However the back up position looks a little stronger with Swedish sensation Jonas "The Monster" Gustavsson picking up some of the slack rather than Justin Pogge who looked like a fish out of water last season when he was called upon.
All we can hope is that Brian Burke can wrangle up the likes of a Dany Heatley to round out what looks like a pretty good team. I think these guys will definately make the playoffs and could quite possibly be the sleeper team in the playoffs...
Could this be the year that Toronto has a Stanley Cup Parade???? That's all for now Leafs Nation.
