Barcelona's Lionel Messi broke the Champions League scoring record when he netted a hat-trick against APOEL on Tuesday night.

Going into the game, he shared the record with former Real Madrid man Raul on 71 goals.

Here be Messi's current record haul. Enjoy it while it lasts as it'll probably be out of date by this time next week pic.twitter.com/h5Ah4v9kqU

So the shirt he wore to move from 71 to 74 would be pretty valuable, huh? Well that shirt now belongs to former Liverpool, Roma and Fulham full-back John Arne Riise.

Riise joined the Cypriot club in the summer and managed to nab the shirt despite being an unused sub vs. the Catalans.

Riise told Norwegian television station NRK, as per 101 Great Goals.

"

One of the most positive things from tonight was that I got his shirt. It was a little big, it was fun. I talked to him during the break and asked politely!”

He scored three goals today, so he showed why he’s the world’s best footballer.

"

We are sure Riise would love to keep the shirt until his dying days, but he has got himself a nice little pension there if he ever needs it.
