Overview

At this point, Zimbabwe must simply be longing for the end of this ordeal. Now winless in all seven matches on tour—their draw in the opening warm-up match prior to the Test series is the only game they haven't lost—it seems only a matter of time before the visitors stagger to yet another limp defeat and hand Bangladesh a second straight series triumph.

Frankly, that looks ready to happen as soon as Wednesday, when the teams meet for the third one-day international of the campaign in Mirpur.

Indeed, the situation looks bleak for Zimbabwe, who simply can't conjure a way to post competitive totals on this tour.

In Friday's series opener, the Africans wilted against the spin of Shakib Al Hasan to fall 87 runs short of the home side's 281. In the second game on Sunday, much the same occurred, but it was Arafat Sunny who did the damage for the hosts.

With Bangladesh possessing an array of batsmen who've been amongst the runs and an attack that has a firm hold over their opponents, a major twist in the script will need to occur if Zimbabwe are to avoid an early-series defeat on Wednesday.

Squads

Bangladesh

Mashrafe Mortaza (c), Al-Amin Hossain, Anamul Haque, Arafat Sunny, Imrul Kayes, Jubair Hossain, Mahmudullah, Mominul Haque, Mushfiqur Rahim (wk), Rubel Hossain, Sabbir Rahman, Shakib Al Hasan, Tamim Iqbal

Zimbabwe

Elton Chigumbura (c), Regis Chakabva (wk), Tendai Chatara, Craig Ervine, Tafadzwa Kamungozi, Hamilton Masakadza, Natsai M'shangwe, Richmond Mutumbami, John Nyumbu, Tinashe Panyangara, Vusi Sibanda, Sikandar Raza, Brendan Taylor, Malcolm Waller, Neville Madziva, Timycen Maruma, Solomon Mire, Peter Moor, Tawanda Mupariwa, Brian Vitori

Key Players

Bangladesh

Mashrafe Mortaza's return to the captaincy in this series has coincided with some impressive spells with the ball for the right-arm seamer, who claimed 3/34 in Sunday's easy victory.

A fine limited-overs performer, the 31-year-old's pace and variety upset Zimbabwe's top-order to effectively end the contest inside 10 overs.

With a strong spin attack behind him, another early burst from Mashrafe can put the series beyond doubt on Wednesday.

It's very simple: Zimbabwe need runs. Fast.

Of all their batsmen, Hamilton Masakadza is the only man who's shown a degree of consistent form across 2014, leaving the opener as the player with the responsibility of hauling the visitors out of their malaise.

A solid 42 in the first match of the series was a start, but Zimbabwe need a big hundred from Masakadza to challenge Bangladesh in this must-win game.
