Griffin Injures Shoulder

Tennessee Titans safety Michael Griffin sustained a dislocated shoulder in the team's Week 12 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, putting his status for the remainder of the season in doubt.

Fox Sports 1 insider Mike Garafolo reported the news:

Griffin actually suffered the injury in the first half of Sunday's game, yet he still returned in the second half to lead the Titans with 12 tackles.

"It was the same shoulder where I tore my labrum, but this is the first time it came all the way out," said Griffin after the game, via The Tennessean's John Glennon. "We'll get some more X-rays and an MRI on it and go from there."

Jim Wyatt of The Tennessean noted how Tennessee coach Ken Whisenhunt was grateful for the grit Griffin showed in returning to the gridiron and playing through the pain:

Rookie fourth-round draft choice Marqueston Huff is next on the depth chart to fill in for Griffin at free safety, though he was inactive for Week 12. Huff was coveted for his ability to play both cornerback and safety despite hailing from a rather unheralded Wyoming football program.

Replacing someone as physical as Griffin is going to be difficult. Huff, or whoever is healthy enough, will have to step up in a big way to keep the Titans' solid 11th-ranked pass defense playing at a decent level.
