U.F.C. 101 DECLARATION: IT'S TIME

The Truth TurcottJul 31, 2009

Hey Sports Fans just a little over a week until U.F.C. 101 DECLARATION hits the Wachovia Center and millions of t.v. sets around the world. The main event for the Lightweight Championship: B.J. "The Prodigy" Penn taking on Kenny "Kenflo" Florian. Is this a night of redemption for "Kenflo"? Will he take it to B.J. Penn in the stand up, or will he try to match skills with the wiley ever so flexible Penn on the ground?

A few of you I'm sure would think the ground game is a fatal mistake for Florian but I disagree. Florians ground game is awesome and smooth. He's very calm and cool on the ground and off his back. His transitions are quick and smooth, I believe he's good enough to match skills with Penn on the ground ultimately frustrating  the "Prodigy" forcing him to stand up. If it stays on the feet look for a Kenny Florian victory in the 3rd by TKO. It's Kennys' time to shine.

The co- main event sees the ever smiling Forrest Griffin taking on the Middleweight Champion Anderson "The Spider" Silva a.k.a. The Best Pound For Pound (p4p) in the world stepping up in weight again in search of worthy competition. He may have found it.

Forrest is in two words: A Nightmare. Silva better bring his heart in to this fight because we all know Griffin will be. Griffin still doesn't look right as a fighter but he gets the job done. His striking is great and vastly improved and his ground game is tight and smooth.

Silvas' last two fights weren't as spectacular as his fans would have liked them to be, I personally think his fight with Leites was great, it went five rounds proving the champ can go the distance, which is where we might find him again when he meets Griffin in the center of the Octagon. Like any fight this could obviously go the either way.

If Griffin wins does this change Silvas p4p rating??? According to Forrest in his own words; "Silvas the best p4p fighter in the world. If I beat him he'll still be the best p4p fighter in the world, he just needs to be like the rest of us and lose once in awhile." You gotta love Forrest Sports Fans...
