Patriots Owner Robert Kraft's Limited-Edition Nikes Sell out Quickly

Kyle NewportNov 24, 2014

New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft isn't a professional athlete, but fans still want to dress like him.

Nike produced special-edition Air Force 1s that included Kraft's initials (R.K.K.), Patriots logos (current and old) and a quote from the Patriots owner. The sneakers went on sale Monday morning.

ESPN.com's Darren Rovell provided the details as to why Nike sold Kraft shoes:

"

The 73-year-old Patriots owner, who has worn Nike shoes with his suits ever since he started experiencing pain while wearing dress shoes, will see his own limited-edition version of Nike's updated Air Force 1 shoe go on sale for $150 on Nike.com and at Niketown Boston and the Patriots ProShop at 10 a.m. ET Monday.

"

Fans often go crazy for signature shoes. Sneakers associated with LeBron James, Kobe Bryant, Kevin Durant and other star athletes are always in high demand. Still, it's pretty surprising to see a professional sports team owner other than Michael Jordan get a shoe.

The demand for these Patriots Air Force 1s was apparently pretty high. According to Next Impulse Sports' Pete Blackburn, Nike's website was out of stock a minute after the shoes went on sale. Blackburn also noted that all proceeds benefit the Boys & Girls Clubs of Boston.

Kraft has been very successful wearing Nikes, so plenty of fans are willing to give the shoes a shot.

On the day before the sneakers were released, New England's coaching staff—including Bill Belichick—wore the shoes during Sunday's game against the Detroit Lions.
