Thomas Vermaelen Returning to Arsenal?

1 of 1

Due to ongoing injuries, Thomas Vermaelen has yet to play a single minute for Barcelona this season.

With full recovery a long way off, the defender will be lucky to even break into the first team at all this year.

The Catalans bought the Belgium international with hopes of him playing a big role in the team. For that to happen, he is going to need regular playing time, which could involve a loan deal once he returns to full health.

According to a recent report from Mundo Deportivo (h/t Liam Prenderville of the Daily Mirror), Arsenal may be looking to bring the defender back on loan once he has recovered from his injuries.

While that day may be some way off, it could be a good move for everyone.

However, if the Catalans are looking to send Vermaelen on loan, rest assured that other clubs will be throwing their hat in the ring for his signature as well.
