Katy Perry to Perform at Halftime of Super Bowl XLIX
The NFL has announced that Katy Perry will headline the 2015 Super Bowl halftime show.
Bleacher Report's Sean Jensen relayed the news:
The California girl took to Twitter to show her excitement about receiving the honor:
For last year's halftime show, the NFL paired headliner Bruno Mars—an act who tailors to a younger audience much in the same way Perry does—with legendary rock band the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
The pairing, albeit unexpected, worked quite well together, and it will be intriguing to see if Perry is joined by a guest act.
This year's Super Bowl will take place on February 1, 2015 at University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Arizona.
According to NFL.com, the annual show is the most-watched musical event in the world. Perry has her work cut out for her in living up to expectations, but there's no denying the 30-year-old's immense popularity across the globe.
