Denard Robinson, Toby Gerhart, Jordan Todman's Post-Week 12 Fantasy Reaction

Tyler ConwayNov 23, 2014

Owning Jacksonville Jaguars players in fantasy comes with inherent trepidations. Days like Sunday are why.

The Jaguars turned in a pile of fantasy nothingness in their 23-3 loss to the Indianapolis Colts in Week 12, gaining only 194 total yards on offense. Denard Robinson, who averaged at least four yards per carry in each of his first four starts, was held to 25 yards on his 14 carries. The former Michigan quarterback was able to salvage his day with four receptions for 47 yards.

Jacksonville surprisingly had its most success with Toby Gerhart. The former starter led the way with 31 yards on his four carries, including a season-long rush of 23 yards. Gerhart had not gained more than 13 yards on any carry prior to this week.

Jordan Todman also made his way onto the field in passing situations, making two catches for 14 yards.

The lack of production all around makes this a difficult game to judge. Jacksonville was hesitant to give Robinson the first-team reins early in the season despite his effectiveness. You would think he's built up enough goodwill within the team to continue as the primary back, but we only need to look at New England to see how quickly a running back's situation can change. Robinson is still an every-week start until his carries diminish; we might just need to adjust our expectations a bit.

Neither Todman nor Gerhart is worth mentioning beyond the fact they are human beings who play professional football. Our sample is significant enough to know Gerhart isn't capable of being an effective NFL starter. Todman has 13 carries this season. We're probably best not losing sleep over his vulture status.
