Arizona Cardinals vs. Seattle Seahawks: Live Score and Analysis for Arizona

Shaun ChurchNov 23, 2014

The Arizona Cardinals have scored just three points in the past seven quarters against two of the NFL's better defenses. The Seattle Seahawks took care of business at home in this game and defeat their NFC West rivals, 19-3.

If the Cardinals (9-2) are to clinch the division any time soon, a better showing on offense has to be a top priority. That starts up front with the offensive line blocking for running back Andre Ellington. With no threat of the run game, teams are teeing off on quarterback Drew Stanton.

He was sacked three times on Sunday by the Seahawks (7-4), who have struggled this season in getting to the quarterback.

Stanton completed 14 of 26 passes (53.8 percent) for 149 yards, no touchdowns and an interception for a 54.8 passer rating. His counterpart, Russell Wilson, was the star of the show. He finished 17-of-22 passing (77.3 percent) for 211 yards and a touchdown for a 121.6 rating despite being sacked seven times.

The Cardinals' defense could do only so much in this one. Without a stable offense to move the ball, the defense was on the field too much. That led to longer drives by Seattle down the stretch, which broke the back of Arizona with a late-third-quarter touchdown drive that covered nine plays and 75 yards.

It's not the end of the world for the Cardinals. They still have a two-game lead over the Seahawks in the division and are still the NFC's No. 1 seed. But the offense must improve in a hurry if a division title and subsequent playoff run are in Arizona's future.
