Okung's Injury History Could Affect Future with Seahawks
Although he's not considered one of the NFL's premier tackles, Okung helped Seattle produce the fourth-best run-blocking unit in the league, per Football Outsiders in 2014. When healthy, the 28-year-old is one of the backbones of the Seahawks offensive line.
With that said, injuries have hamstrung Okung quite a bit through his first five seasons. He has never played a full regular season, missing a total of 21 games during that five-year stretch.
The concern is particularly acute with Okung's contract running out in 2015. Given all of the money they have paid their younger stars, like Russell Wilson and Bobby Wagner, the Seahawks have a major decision to make regarding an extension for Okung.
When healthy for close to a full season, Okung can be one of the better tackles in the league, as evidenced by his 2012 trip to the Pro Bowl.
But this most recent injury may give Seattle pause as to whether it can continue relying so heavily on him to anchor the O-line.
