Bears' Jared Allen Just 1 Sack Away from Joining All-Time Top 10
Chicago Bears defensive end Jared Allen enters Thursday's game against the Detroit Lions needing just 1.5 more sacks to tie Lawrence Taylor and Leslie O'Neal for 10th place on the all-time sacks list, per Pro-Football-Reference.com.
Allen has 131 career sacks in 167 games, placing him second among active players, behind only Arizona Cardinals outside linebacker John Abraham (133.5).
With Abraham out for the season due to a concussion and possibly headed for retirement, Allen needs just three sacks by the end of the year to claim sole possession of first place on the active leaderboard.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
While five games would have given him plenty of time to reach both marks in the past, the 32-year-old Allen is currently having the worst statistical season of his career, with just 2.5 sacks through 10 appearances.
He recorded at least 7.5 sacks in each of his first 10 NFL seasons, and he's reached double digits every year since 2006.
That streak now appears to be nearing an end, as Allen's first season in Chicago has been disappointing from both a team and individual perspective.
While no longer the star he once was, Allen still seems to have a couple of seasons left in the tank, which makes him a strong candidate to retire in the top five of the all-time sacks list.
