Davis Misses Thursday Practice With Concussion
The team's official Twitter account reported on Davis' status, and CSNBayArea.com's Matt Maiocco reported Thursday that Davis still wasn't on the practice field:
Davis had tweeted after the 49ers' Week 11 16-10 victory over the New York Giants that he was knocked out during the game (Warning: Tweet contains NSFW language):
"2nd to last play of the game I got a spinning elbow to the face. I was literally knocked out for a sec. I'm officially an NFL player now.
— Bam Davis (@AnthonyDavis76) November 17, 2014"
"I remember waking up to Harbaugh saying "get him up and off the field!, We don't want the clock to stop!" lol Can't make this shit up.
— Bam Davis (@AnthonyDavis76) November 17, 2014"
This is yet another scary instance of NFL player-safety issues when it comes to traumatic head injuries. Davis' status for Week 12's game against Washington is definitely up in the air.
The 49ers have done a remarkable job overcoming various injuries this season. In its past two wins, San Francisco has gotten back to establishing the run more with Frank Gore, which is where Davis helps out a lot at right tackle.
Jonathan Martin is the presumptive candidate to fill in for the Niners' offensive line with Davis out Sunday.
