Rangers-Sabres Rescheduled
The Rangers announced a new date for their contest with the Sabres:
Rangers-Sabres Postponed Due to Inclement Weather
"Due to the continuing weather-related difficulties in the Greater Buffalo area and out of respect for the fans of the Sabres, Friday's game between the New York Rangers and Buffalo Sabres at First Niagara Center, NHL Game No. 291, has been postponed," the league said in a statement.
The game was initially scheduled for 7 p.m. ET. The Buffalo area has been hit with a massive winter storm over the past few days, with more than five feet of snow already on the ground, per Doyle Rice of USA Today. Current weather forecasts estimate another three feet could come down between Thursday and Friday, making travel conditions unsafe for the fans and players.
The Sabres are due in Washington for a game against the Capitals on Saturday. The NHL is yet to make an announcement on that contest, though travel may be restricted in the Buffalo area during that time period. The NFL is currently considering moving Sunday's game between the Buffalo Bills and New York Jets to another site or postponing it into next week.
Buffalo did host a game against the San Jose Sharks on Wednesday despite the snow. The Sabres won, 4-1, despite forward Patrick Kaleta being snowed in and unable to make the game.
