Petr Cech Removes Nirvana Drum Cover from YouTube After 'Misinterpretations'

Sean FayNov 20, 2014

Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech is also a pretty kick-ass drummer, and he has been posting videos of himself rocking out to some tunes over the last few weeks.

Over half a million people have already listened to him playing "Walk" by the Foo Fighters, while he has also given "Clocks" by Coldplay a go

On Thursday, he posted his latest video, a cover of "Rape Me" by Nirvana off their hit album In Utero. And while most people enjoyed Cech's latest drumming effort, some were unhappy that he decided to play a song with such an emotive word in the title.

After being challenged on his choice of song by some social media users, Cech said he had taken down the video because people were misinterpreting him.

"

Too many people misinterpreted the Nirvana cover I put on.... So it is not there anymore. ...:-(

Most people seemed to think it was crazy that Cech had to go such lengths, with the below tweet pretty representative of opinions.

"

As if Petr Cech had to remove his Nirvana cover of "Rape Me" because of the interpretations people had of it... Absolute madness

— Danny (@DannyM__MCFC) November 20, 2014"

But it just goes to show how careful high-profile figures have to be in the social media age.
