Henderson Doubt Emerges for Liverpool

Jordan Henderson provided Liverpool with an injury worry heading into Sunday's Premier League clash against Crystal Palace after suffering a hamstring problem on international duty.

The Reds' vice-captain didn't feature in England's 3-1 friendly win over Scotland on Tuesday, with manager Roy Hodgson revealing it was only a "minor" setback, per the Liverpool Echo's James Pearce:

“Jordan has a slight hamstring problem. It’s very minor. He wanted to play but I didn’t want to take the risk.”

Given that Liverpool currently sit 11th in the league and are without a win in three games, Brendan Rodgers may be more willing to take his chances at Selhurst Park.

The blow is poorly timed for Henderson, a player who recently told the Football Association of his delight to take a more prominent position in both club and national team squads:

After the trip to Palace on Sunday, Liverpool travel to Bulgaria for their Champions League tie against Ludogorets Razgrad, another fixture which will figure highly in Rodgers' mind.

Rather than risk aggravating the knock, the tactician may opt to save Henderson for the European fixture, as the last thing Liverpool need is to see their injury list grow closing ahead of the winter period.
