Steelers Reportedly Ban Mike Mitchell from Twitter After Messages to Fans

R. Cory SmithNov 18, 2014

Twitter can be a very dangerous place if not used properly. Pittsburgh Steelers safety Mike Mitchell found that out Monday night.

Mitchell took to Twitter following the team's Week 11 win over the Tennessee Titans on Monday Night Football and lashed out at Twitter critics. He sent direct messages, per CBS Pittsburgh, with one reading, "You on the other hand kill yourself."

Due to that postgame tirade, Mitchell has reportedly been asked to stay off social media entirely, per the report. The 27-year-old safety also voiced his thoughts in one tweet:

Mitchell hasn't been a huge factor in the Steelers secondary since coming over from the Carolina Panthers in the offseason. He has 51 tackles, two passes defended and two forced fumbles for the 16th-ranked pass defense in the NFL.

The Steelers evidently do not want Mitchell to be a distraction. Only time will tell if his play picks up, and fans will certainly be waiting to see what happens if and when he does return from his reported Twitter hiatus.
