Chelsea Transfer News: Mega Anderson Talisca Bid Set to Destroy Arsenal Hopes

Rob BlanchetteNov 18, 2014

Chelsea are looking to blow Arsenal out of the water with a mega offer for Brazilian wonderkid, Anderson Talisca.

Calcio Mercato (h/t Metro) reported Jose Mourinho will offer £37 million for the Benfica starlet, who has drawn comparisons to both Rivaldo and Yaya Toure.

The newspaper stated "a deal [is] thought to be close" for the player, dashing Arsene Wenger's hopes of capturing the 20-year-old.

However, Steve Bates and Neil Moxley of the Sunday People, via the Mirror, recently reported Manchester United have entered the race for the attacking midfielder, with Louis van Gaal sending his top European scout to Portugal to watch Talisca.

It seems the player will have the choice of all of the Premier League big boys when he decides to exit his current club.

However, David Luiz has advised Talisca to stay at Benfica and continue his development with them—and reject a move to England, per Ben Jefferson of the Express.

"

Talisca is having a great season and deserves the accolades he is getting from around the world. I just hope that he can continue playing well because he will be very important for Brazil. I saw him playing when he was still at Bahia. He is a player of great quality.

He had the good fortune to fall into the hands on Jorge Jesus. He's a coach that improves his players. Every year we see Benfica sell three or four players with six or seven others the subject of offers.

Jorge Jesus empowers and teaches players though. Talisca still has plenty to learn and I'm sure he'll get better in the future.

"

Luiz's comments are no surprise given his four-year tenure at Benfica, but his opinion might have been different had he remained in west London, at Stamford Bridge.

Talisca is undoubtedly one of the hottest talents in Europe right now and he seems to be the heir apparent to Toure—should he find his way to the Premier League.

Newton Mota, a former official at Bahia, recently compared Talisca to Brazil legend Rivaldo and acknowledged the comparisons with Yaya, per Bates and Moxley:

"

Some people call him "Yaya Talisca." His technique is very accurate but I liken him more to Rivaldo, who was also left-footed, with a long stride and capable of scoring goals from distance.

"

Talisca's current club record looks impressive this season. The player has scored nine times in his 14 domestic and Champions League appearances, per WhoScored.com, showing the burgeoning talent he possesses and the quality of his play.

The thought of Mourinho purchasing Talisca is a frightening one. Chelsea already have Cesc Fabregas and Nemanja Matic to anchor the centre for them but with Talsica in front, the Blues would be one of the most potent forces in Europe—more than they already are.

Talisca's arrival could also open the door for Eden Hazard to exit, if the Belgian has ambitions to leave England. Mourinho will be keen to swell his options should the unthinkable happen and Hazard makes a move back to continental Europe.

The young player would be a power forward for Chelsea and undoubtedly would form a great partnership with Diego Costa.

Their combined goal tallies would protect Chelsea's position ahead of Manchester City and the chasing pack—Talisca is the archetypal Mourinho addition.
