Leaf Fans Petition for New Logo
There is a Toronto Maple Leafs fan movement that began over a year ago that is now starting to gain momentum in the mainstream media. The proposal is to change the Maple Leafs current logo back to the logo that was seen on the front of the Leaf jersey from 1939 to 1967.
Here is the petition as posted on www.leafslogo.com

We, the undersigned, are in favour of changing the Toronto Maple Leafs primary logo and uniform design. The general opinion of the group leans towards changing the primary logo to the one on our alternative (3rd) uniform, replacing the current away uniform with the alternative uniform, and making a new home jersey based on the alternative uniform. There are several reasons for this, that can be found on our “about” or “facts” page, and also found in the additional info provided by signers of the petition. We understand that this change cannot be effective immediately due to the NHL’s rules on uniform changing, but would like to see such a move happen as soon as possible, to signify a new era for the Toronto Maple Leafs organization.

The Undersigned"
It is also noted on www.leafslogo.com that while this logo was on the Leaf Jersey they went to 14 Stanley Cup Finals and won 10 of them. Since they stopped using the proposed logo the team has not made any Stanley Cup Final appearances.
Bad luck or just coincidence? You be the judge.
Also, there is an interesting graphic showing the original six NHL franchises' logos from this year and their logos as they looked in 1967. The only logo that is immediately different is the Leafs logo. Every other original six team has largely kept the same logo on the front of their jerseys.
The Toronto Star, Toronto Sun, and the FAN 590 have all begun to cover this developing petition.
