Alfred Blue, Jonathan Grimes' Instant Fantasy Reaction After Week 11

Donald WoodNov 16, 2014

The groin injury to Arian Foster forced the Houston Texans to put the starting running back on the inactive list, but backups Alfred Blue and Jonathan Grimes took the opportunity and ran with it in Week 11 against the Cleveland Browns.

Houston was coming off a Week 10 bye and was making the transition to Ryan Mallett as the starting quarterback. Head coach Bill O'Brien leaned heavily on the ground attack in Mallett's first start.

Blue was clearly the Texans' top option Sunday and took the bulk of the carries, going over the century mark. Grimes was nothing to scoff at, though, as he too was given a hefty workload and thrived.

For fantasy owners, owning Blue is a must. Foster has been plagued with soft-tissue injuries over the last several years, and Blue is the team’s top option without Foster on the field. Blue’s production dips drastically when Foster is healthy, but he is a necessary handcuff and a flex play in the right situation.

On the other hand, Grimes should only be owned in the deepest leagues. His production was impressive Sunday, but his workload is far too inconsistent to be considered a flex unless injuries plague the Houston backfield.
