Saints Fan Rips Ball Away from Bengals Fan Who Had It Thrown to Her

Kyle NewportNov 16, 2014

This New Orleans Saints fan needs to learn how to do the right thing.

After Cincinnati Bengals tight end Jermaine Gresham caught a touchdown pass in the third quarter of Sunday's game in New Orleans, he spotted a Bengals fan in the front row and decided to toss her the football. She never received the ball, though, thanks to the Saints fan next to her.

Update from Monday, Nov. 17

Gresham saw what happened and said he wants to do something for the Bengals fan.

The woman who was with the now-famous Bengals fan was very appreciative of Gresham's kindness.

It looks like the fan will be getting at least an autographed football from Gresham.

Even after pleading, she was unable to get the football from him. Even other Saints fans thought the ball should go to the Bengals fan, per The Cincinnati Enquirer's C. Trent Rosecrans.

Why is he keeping the football?

"Because I caught it," the Saints fan, Tony Williams, told Rosecrans. "It's very simple, I caught the football."

There are certain rules fans need to obey. Everyone knows that fans should give souvenirs thrown into the stands to children if any are around. However, if an opposing player throws something to a visiting fan, you let them have it. Otherwise, you look like this guy.

This story does have a happy ending, however.
