Pugh Leaves Game vs. 49ers
New York Giants right tackle Justin Pugh suffered a strained quadriceps muscle and will miss the remainder of Sunday’s game against the San Francisco 49ers, according to the Giants official Twitter account:
Following the game, it was revealed that Pugh was dealing with the injured quad coming into Week 11, via Nick Powell of NJ.com:
"According to coach Tom Coughlin, Pugh's quad had been bothering him since last week's game in Seattle. Pugh did not appear on the injury report in the week leading up to the Niners game.
'Pugh practiced all week, that was the shocker,' Coughlin said. 'The kid worked his tail off in practice; I don't think he ever missed a snap. Then, real early in the game...had we had some idea that it was that big of an issue, we would've been able to control the snaps.'
"
Pugh is a second-year player who played all 16 games last year and had not missed any time this season either. The Giants selected him in the first round of the 2013 NFL draft to add stability up front and protect Eli Manning.
Backup tackle Charles Brown has taken over the starting job in Pugh’s absence.
