Jimmy Graham Says He's Done Jumping into End Zones After Groping Incident

Dan CarsonNov 14, 2014

Jimmy Graham says he will no longer jump into crowds after being felt up by a mass murderer Sunday.

The New Orleans Saints tight end scored two touchdowns against the San Francisco 49ers and decided to celebrate his second by leaping into the stands at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome. It was then that a super villain known as “The Joker” struck, latching onto Graham’s haunches and giving his buttocks several squeezes.

David Sierra uploaded a Vine of the bun-grabbing.

The attack shook the city of New Orleans to its core, and Graham says he’ll never allow himself again to be caught unaware.

Graham told Evan Woodbery of NOLA.com that the leap was probably his last.

“That’ll probably be my last one after I got groped up,” Graham said. “It was a moment in the game and I just wanted to go and thank all the fans for being there. Some people were trying to thank me a little too much…that’ll be the last one for me.”

Finding safe ways to celebrate touchdowns continues to be Graham’s cross to bear. With his goalpost dunk getting banned by the league and his Superdome leaps ending in villainous handfuls, he’s going to have to scrape the barrel to find a viable and safe way to commemorate his scores.

As for the Joker—aka Scott McGowan, a 43-year-old man who only dresses as the Joker for Saints games—he says he was just patting whatever he could.

“I went for what I could grab,” McGowan told The Advocate’s Ramon Antonio Vargas. “Everything else was taken, so I took what I could get.”

“I officially know now that [Graham] is a tight end,” McGowan added.

Feel that weird churning in your stomach right now?

Enjoy that.
