Germany vs. Gibraltar: Goals, Highlights from the Euro 2016 Qualifier
Gibraltar were expecting nothing short of a landslide defeat when they faced world champions Germany in Nurnberg on Friday evening.
However, the part-time minnows managed to go a full 12 minutes before conceding. The deadlock was broken when Gibraltar's goalkeeper let a Shkodran Mustafi cross from the right hit his post. The ball deflected and fell to the feet of Thomas Muller, who wasted no time in burying it from around seven yards.
Muller put his name on the scoresheet once again in the 29th minute, when the Gibraltar defence gifted him a simple tap-in from a well-placed Lukas Podolski cross.

Mario Gotze—the man who scored the World Cup-winning goal a few months ago—saw him excellent recent form continue with a goal in the 39th minute.
After playing a neat one-two with Max Kruse on the edge of the area, the Bayern Munich star made it 3-0 with a left-footed strike across beleaguered keeper Jamie Robba.
A minute before the break, Gibraltar had their only shot on target of the first half—and it was sensational.
Liam Walker’s first-time strike from 25 yards was only kept out by a full-stretch save from Manuel Neuer, who had to rush back to his goalmouth to meet the unexpected threat.
In the 67th minute, a Gibraltar player finally got on the scoresheet—but sadly it was an own goal.
A Lukas Podolski cross intended to give Thomas Muller a hat-trick was turned into the net by defender Yogan Santos, who had been on the pitch less than 10 minutes.
Gibraltar finished with a respectful 4-0 defeat (if there is such a thing). By the goalkeeper's mathematics, they are now better than Brazil.
