5 Questions Real Madrid Fans Would Love to Ask Sergio Ramos

Samuel MarsdenNov 14, 2014

Next summer, Sergio Ramos will celebrate 10 years at Real Madrid.

The kid from Andalucia, it's fair to say, has done quite well.

There have been plenty of ups, a few downs and a lot of trophies; there have even been a number of goals in a Madrid shirt—50 to be exact.

But if Real Madrid fans could ask him anything, what would the questions be?

Over the following slides are five which may feature.

1. La Decima or the World Cup?

The biggest club trophy or the biggest international trophy? Spain's first World Cup or Real Madrid's 10th European Cup?

Which was better, Sergio?

Ramos has won 13 trophies with Los Blancos and La Roja, including three La Liga titles and two European Championships, but you have to imagine there are two which stand above the rest.

In 2010 he became a world champion with Spain when Andres Iniesta's goal saw off the challenge of Holland in the World Cup final in South Africa.

And earlier this year he was part of the Madrid side which at last won La Decima after a decade of trying.

But if he could only pick one, which would he pick?

2. 1 Player from History to Play Alongside...

Sergio Ramos has played with some decent defenders during his time at Real Madrid.

There have been few partnerships in recent football history as formidable as his current one with Pepe, but he's also seen the likes of Fabio Cannavaro come and go during his time in white.

His early years at the club even overlapped with Jonathan Woodgate's spell in Spain.

But which defender, from any time in the history of the game, would the 28-year-old most liked to have played alongside?

Germany's Franz Beckenbauer? England's Bobby Moore? Or any number of Italians, with Paolo Maldini presumably ranking quite highly.

Or would Ramos keep it local and opt for someone like Fernando Hierro?

And then in 25 years' time, perhaps the new crop of central defenders may be saying they wished they had the chance to play alongside Sergio Ramos.

3. Can You Tell Us About the Fallouts with Spain and at Real Madrid?

Despite being hugely successful with both club and country, things haven't always been smooth for Sergio Ramos with Spain or at Real Madrid.

The defender was part of a Spain squad which struggled to shake off the Madrid/Barcelona divide which existed.

Iker Casillas has since revealed that a phone call to Barca's Xavi in 2011 just about managed to keep the peace in the squad, as reported by Goal.

Tensions had run high due to the rivalry between Jose Mourinho's Madrid side and Pep Guardiola's Catalans.

A few years later, in what would prove Mourinho's final season in the Spanish capital, it was Los Blancos, not La Roja, who were in disarray.

Casillas had been dropped, Pepe had criticised the manager and the dressing room was not thought to be a happy place, as revealed by Ben Hayward on Goal.

It would be fascinating to hear firsthand from Ramos what exactly went on during those two periods and what it was that eventually enabled both Spain, temporarily at least, and Madrid to come out the other side.

4. Best XI Featuring Players You've Played With...

In the summer of 2005, a 19-year-old Sergio Ramos arrived at the Bernabeu and took over the No. 4 shirt previously worn by Real Madrid legend Fernando Hierro.

During the following nine years, he has played with no shortage of fantastic players.

The current side is pretty impressive, but Ramos has also featured in sides which have included the likes of Zinedine Zidane, Roberto Carlos, Raul Gonzalez, Ronaldo and David Beckham.

Then there are players like Xabi Alonso, Mesut Ozil and Angel Di Maria who have just left.

There are just too many for Ramos to choose from but here's a guess at what he may go for—including naming himself:

Casillas; Salgado, Pepe, Ramos, R. Carlos; C. Ronaldo, Alonso, Zidane, Bale; Ronaldo, Raul

5. What's Been Your Favourite Hairstyle?

The important one.

Sergio Ramos' changing hairstyles haven't quite hit David Beckham levels of interest, but they've frequently been a talking point in Spain and, occasionally, beyond.

When he arrived he was just a kid with long, floppy hair; now he's grown into one of the most successful defenders of all time and has a slightly shorter crop.

In between there have varying lengths and there was even that time, quite recently, when he bleached his hair.

So tell us, Sergio, which do was your favourite?
