The injury occurred during a kickoff as Freeny remained down after the play. Freeny had just one tackle on the night and has amassed 13 total on the season. He's also credited with a sack and a blocked kick this year.
Freeny has been asked to step up in special situations this season, as Omar Kelly of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel notes:
In his third season with the Dolphins, Freeny has maintained a limited role on the team. However, the special teams and depth of the defense will likely suffer without his presence.
