Andros Townsend Injury: Updates on Tottenham and England Star's Ankle, Return

Andros Townsend was forced to withdraw from England's squad for its matches against Slovenia and Scotland after failing to recover from an ankle injury. He had since remained unfit to play but was listed as a substitute for Sunday's match.

Townsend Withdraws from England's Squad for Slovenia and Scotland Matches

The Tottenham Hotspur winger hasn't been able to train for several days, and a Football Association spokesperson confirmed that Townsend would return to his club setting, per talkSPORT:

Andros Townsend will today leave the England squad and return to his club. Townsend reported for duty on Monday with a minor injury and will go back to Tottenham Hotspur for further treatment. He will miss England's games against Slovenia and Scotland.

"

The ankle issue keeping the winger out of Roy Hodgson's plans is described as only being "minor."
