Boatright Injures Ankle

Head coach Kevin Ollie and Connecticut may be without one of the most electrifying guards in the country, as senior guard Ryan Boatright deals with an ankle injury.

Dom Amore of the Hartford Courant has the news:

A key part of the Huskies' 2013-14 national championship run, Boatright entered the new campaign as the team's leader. With Shabazz Napier and DeAndre Daniels off to the professional ranks, the speedy Boatright was named the AAC Preseason Player of the Year.

Although he can sometimes play a bit of out control, the 6'0" guard is a playmaker on offense and absolute nuisance on defense due to his quickness.

CBS Sports' Jon Rothstein noted his importance during last year's magical run:

Fortunately for Ollie, depth in the backcourt is a strength. Rodney Purvis, Sam Cassell Jr., Omar Calhoun and Daniel Hamilton are all talented options at the guard positions, while Purvis and Cassell are capable of handling the ball.

Still, there are few players in the country as exhilarating or tough as Boatright. The Huskies will hoping this injury isn't serious.
