Signs Point Toward Long's Activation
ESPN.com's Nick Wagoner has the latest on Long's activation, including a quote from Rams coach Jeff Fisher:
""He's close," Fisher said Friday. "I think he had his best day of practice today, so we're going to discuss it this afternoon and if we make a decision, we'll probably make a decision tomorrow."
"
Because the Rams will have to make a corresponding move to create space for Long, activating him would almost certainly mean making a move in time for Saturday's waiver cycle. They have until 4 p.m. ET to do it.

Long Unlikely to be Activated This Week
Jim Thomas of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch has the latest on Long:
Long Recovering From September Ankle Surgery
The former No. 2 overall pick was placed on the injured reserve/designated to return list after undergoing surgery in September. Now that he's back at practice, he has three weeks to be activated to the 53-man roster or else he'll be out for the year.
Fisher, via Wagoner, discussed Long's outlook:
"We started the window for Chris so he’ll be able to practice," said Fisher. "He didn’t do much today but he’s just going to keep adding to it. We feel like the designated IR situation gives you a 21-day period so we think he’ll definitely be ready to play within that period."
After a poor start to the season, St. Louis' talented pass rush has woken up recently, recording 16 sacks over the past four weeks. Still, the return of Long opposite Robert Quinn will add some much-needed depth to the D-line.
