5 Plausible Transfer Scenarios for Barcelona Legend Victor Valdes
After saying goodbye to Barcelona, Victor Valdes is still on the market for a new club. The legendary shot-stopper is nearing full health and the time is coming for him to decide where he will be putting on his gloves next.
Several different rumors have been swirling about Valdes over the past six months and it is hard to pinpoint what is going to happen next. However, there are stories that stand out and it makes sense that fans are paying such close attention now.
With that being said, let's now take a look at the five most plausible transfer outcomes for Victor Valdes as we try to gauge what decision the Catalan keeper is going to make.
As always, feel free to get involved in the comment section below and let us know where you think Valdes will end up!
Arsenal

The most likely destination for Victor Valdes seems to be England, where there are a host of clubs that would love to sign the former Barcelona man. One of the clubs still interested in his services is none other than Arsenal, according to Inside Spanish Football.
Arsenal has been struggling this season, relying heavily on the services of Alexis Sanchez to escape disaster. The defense is still a major problem area and the addition of Valdes would certainly help improve the leadership at the back.
With the history that a club like Arsenal has, seeing Valdes join the Gunners would not be surprising. He would immediately be able to fight for a starting spot in the lineup, however, there are others in England that will challenge for his signature.
Manchester United

As of this moment, the most likely destination of Victor Valdes is Old Trafford. The keeper has been training with Manchester United for some time now and signing for the club would be the next logical step for the keeper.
In a recent interview reported by Chris Waugh of the Daily Mail, Manchester United attacker Juan Mata stated that, “the club is still waiting to see what his plans are.”
Mata, who is close to Valdes from their time together in the Spain National Team, would know more about the situation than most. From his words it looks like Valdes is considering a permanent move to Old Trafford, but he has yet to come close to making an actual decision.
Regardless, with the likes of David De Gea between the sticks, it would be hard for Valdes to earn a regular place. Joining United would be a positive move for Valdes, but it would come with difficulty.
Liverpool

In the beginning of Valdes’ club search, there were some odd stories circulating in regards to Liverpool. Eventually, the player’s agent revealed to Sky Sports that they had not rejected an offer from Brendan Rodgers’ side, because there had not been an offer on the table.
While Liverpool may have been a real possibility a few months ago, it doesn’t look like there is much to the story now. The club is struggling without Luis Suarez and Valdes is looking to join a club that is fighting for titles.
However, if things go south at Manchester United and other English clubs fail to step up, Liverpool may be able to make a late push for Valdes.
As of now, signing for Liverpool is nearly impossible, but that doesn’t mean it can’t happen.
Back to Spain

Another real possibility for Victor Valdes is a return to Spain in some kind of capacity.
Before going any further, it needs to be made clear that a return to Spain does not include a possible return to Barcelona. That time has past. With Claudio Bravo and Marc-Andre ter Stegen now at the Camp Nou, Valdes is officially gone.
However, there are other clubs in Spain that could certainly use Valdes if they were able to talk him into staying in his home country.
Clubs such as Atletico Madrid, Valencia and Sevilla would get an immediate boost by signing Valdes, and the fans would be quick to jump to his support. He is well known in the country and loved by fans, which is definitely a selling point when looking for a new place to call home.
Yet, staying in Spain and playing against Barcelona doesn’t seem like the kind of move that Valdes is looking for. He wants to test himself in a new setting, but that doesn’t rule out staying in La Liga; it just makes it really unlikely.
Could Valdes eventually return to coach at Barcelona? Now that is a conversation for another day.
Bayern Munich
5 of 5
The last plausible location for Valdes to end up is a real page-turner. After leaving Barcelona, the Catalan keeper could make his way to Germany to pair up with former manager Pep Guardiola for giants Bayern Munich.
Before signing Pepe Reina last summer, Inside Spanish Football’s Tom Conn reported that Guardiola was looking to bring Valdes to Bayern Munich to give the club major depth behind Manuel Neuer.
With both Reina and Tom Starke are on the injured list, there is no better time than now to sign a new keeper to back up Neuer. Guardiola could soon look to Valdes and it would be hard for the keeper to say no to a manager that he has already achieved so much with.
If Valdes wants to win trophies in a new location, joining Bayern Munich makes the most sense for him. However, if he wants to be a regular starter, Neuer won’t be letting that happen for a second.
