Foxhole Football

The Auburn Tigers are searching for answers after another home loss, the most recent coming against Mississippi State this past Saturday. Nobody could have predicted a 1-2 start for the Tigers, which makes it all the the more baffling.

So what does a struggling team do when its back is against the wall? Well according to the Auburn coaches, it  must find its character.

This isn't the way seniors like Brandon Cox and Quentin Groves envisioned their final season going.

But it is what it is.

At this point, all Auburn can do is try and get better and move on...

Offensive line coach Hugh Nall was a freshman offensive lineman at Georgia, and remembers having a losing season with Vince Dooley.

It was unexpected and all they could do was keep fighting and rely on each other as teammates.

It is the valuable lesson learned then that gave Coach Nall the knowledge to know how to respond now.

Coach Nall says starting now, it's "foxhole football."

This Auburn team must have a sense of urgency from here on out.

They have to take the "me against the world" stance because the rest of the SEC doens't believe in them anymore.

Even some Auburn fans, who decided to boo Brandon Cox last weekend, are turning on the Tigers.

So how will the Tigers rebound?

Well it starts this weekend with New Mexico State, but the real test will be in two weeks against Florida in the Swamp.

Then we will see what kind of fight this team has.

The phrase, "one game at a time", has never been more relevant.

This Auburn team needs something good to go their way.

And at this point, anything would help.
