Mesut Ozil Settles Lawsuit with Father out of Court
Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil reached a settlement agreement with his father, Mustafa Ozil, after a civil case was filed over lost earnings.
James Orr of The Independent reports the elder Ozil was seeking nearly £500,000 after his son removed him as director of his marketing company last year. The midfielder transferred the power to his brother. Official terms of the settlement deal were not released.
"Mustafa claimed his son owed him €630,000 (£494,000) for a loss of earnings because of the dismissal, and he initially refused to pay out.
During the past year, Mesut's affairs have been run by his brother Mutlu.
"
By reaching an agreement, Ozil is able to avoid any type of distraction from a lengthy legal process. It's one less concern as the German star attempts to work back to full match fitness after suffering a knee injury in the early stages of the current campaign.
He was ruled out for at least six weeks back in October. No definitive date for his return to the pitch has been set.
