In nine games with the Bears this season, Holmes caught eight passes for 67 yards and no touchdowns on 14 targets. He also returned nine punts for 50 total yards. Suffice to say, Holmes never became a major part of this Chicago team.
After winning a Super Bowl in 2008 with the Pittsburgh Steelers and having a career year in 2009, finishing with 79 receptions for 1,248 yards and five touchdowns, Holmes' career has stalled in stints with the New York Jets—where he battled injuries and was called "a cancer" by an anonymous teammate—and the Bears.
After a nondescript tenure with the Bears and considering his past reputation as a locker-room distraction, it would be surprising if another team took a shot on the 30-year-old wideout.
