Tottenham Hotspur Transfer News and Rumours Tracker: Week of November 10

Sam RookeNov 9, 2014

A disheartening defeat at home to Stoke brought an abrupt end to Spurs' run of three consecutive victories and accusatory fingers are now being pointed at the players and manager Mauricio Pochettino.

However, the club will not simply dissolve. It must continue planning for the future which means transfers.

On the evidence of recent weeks, Tottenham need quite a few new players.

This article will be updated throughout the week as new rumours emerge.

Yedlin to Arrive Early?

1 of 3

MLS star DeAndre Yedlin will reportedly complete his transfer to Tottenham in the January transfer window.

According to the Mirror, Yedlin has successfully completed the necessary paperwork to collect a European passport which enables Spurs to bring him in earlier than originally planned.

According to the Guardian, Yedlin was initially going to remain with Seattle Sounders until next summer but with Spurs' paucity of options at full-back, his transfer has been fast-tracked.

Some observers have doubted whether Yedlin has the tactical nous and experience to thrive in the Premier League but, with Kyle Walker's seemingly permanent injury, Pochettino may have no choice but to throw Yedlin in the deep end.

Spurs are desperate for some pace and excitement out wide and, regardless of his defensive qualities, Yedlin is sure to inject some dynamism.

Chiriches to Make Incredibly Unlikely Move?

2 of 3

After Spurs' disastrous performance against Stoke, many supporters could probably do with a laugh.

So, the Metro has duly obliged by suggesting that Vlad Chiriches will join Arsenal in January.

This transfer is so unlikely as to be laughable on the surface but, given Chiriches' appalling form, it would probably be equally amusing if it were to go through.

No player has made the move across the north London divide for a fee in the Premier League era and it is highly unlikely that Arsenal would risk alienating their fans by breaking this streak.

Chiriches is not Sol Campbell, a player so good that it was an insult to Spurs to take him.

The Romanian is fun to watch at his best but too often is maddening and unreliable. If Arsenal do want him, they're probably welcome to him.

Spurs Join Delph Queue?

3 of 3

Aston Villa and England midfielder Fabian Delph has told the club that he will not accept a new contract with the club and is likely to move on.

This has seemingly alerted a number of clubs and Tottenham have now joined the list.

Delph is a combative, "all-action" midfielder that has blossomed in an otherwise wretched Villa side. He has reached the heights of the England team and regularly stands out for Villa.

The Telegraph's John Percy suggests that Spurs are keen to add Delph to their squad in January but face fierce competition from Arsenal and Liverpool

Delph is the kind of player that looks excellent in a poor side but is unlikely to be able to make the requisite jump. When he made the move from Leeds in 2009, Delph was highly sought after but it has taken him many years to reach even this level.

Spurs would do well to steer clear of Delph.
