Straight Out Of Flowery Branch: Falcons Waive A Cornerback
The Atlanta Falcons waived cornerback David Irons Tuesday afternoon.
Irons was a sixth round pick in the 2007 draft and a standout at Auburn where he recorded 194 tackles, three forced fumbles, 43 pass deflections and seven interceptions.
In his rookie season Irons played very well on special teams with 13 tackles and a fumble recovery, but in his second season he only played 5 games before being placed on injury reserve.

Irons continued to feel the effects of the injury during the offseason and minicamp also.
The only question now is, will the Falcons bring in another corner to replace Irons or was this a move to sign a veteran guard/center to replace Jeremy Newberry.
Notable free agent guard/centers:
-Pete Kendall (former team Redskins)
-Grey Ruegamer (former team Giants)
-Melvin Fowler (former team Bills)
-Jason Fabini (former team Redskins)
Notable free agent cornerbacks:
-Chris McAllister (former team Ravens)
-Deltha O'Neal (former team Bengals)
Whatever the Falcons plan on doing should be for the best of the team.
