Broncos QB Brock Osweiler Can't Believe Peyton Manning Taking Field in Blowout

Kyle NewportNov 9, 2014

Denver Broncos backup quarterback Brock Osweiler thought he was going to be able to get into Sunday's 41-17 blowout victory over the Oakland Raiders at the end of the third quarter, so when Peyton Manning went back onto the field, the second-stringer provided a hilarious reaction.

With the Broncos holding a 41-10 lead, Osweiler went to get his helmet so he could presumably enter the game. By the time he had grabbed his helmet and turned around, Manning was already heading back onto the field. That led to a priceless reaction from Osweiler:

Update from Tuesday, Nov. 11

The Broncos, Osweiler included, have been able to get a good laugh out of the backup quarterback's hilarious reaction.

Here's what Osweiler said about the situation, via ESPN.com's Jeff Legwold:

"

It's a good laugh now. There was just a little miscommunication, 'Am I going in? Am I not going in?' But no, there's absolutely no hard feelings or anything like that. We're all just having a good laugh. It's funny that it got caught on tape. ...

Oh yeah, I think everyone's seen it. It's pretty comical. ... He went in for one play, and then I went in. So it's all funny now.

"

Denver coach John Fox said that the miscommunication was on him.

"

That was really on me. What happened was we were contemplating, I don't know, what was there 40 seconds left in the third quarter, I heard something about warming up and in my brain I didn't think Brock was warmed up yet and I said, 'Let Peyton finish this off and we'll bring him out.'

"

Given that Osweiler got into the game moments later, he just laughed this off.

--End of Update--

Being Manning's backup means that Osweiler doesn't get to see the field very often. The next time a game gets out of hand, it's safe to assume he will make sure that he has his helmet with him so he can get some playing time.

Osweiler ended up taking over at the start of the fourth quarter and completed two of his five passes for 13 yards.
