
USMNT Watch: Andrew Wooten Leads Yanks Abroad with Goal and Assist
Most United States men’s national team fans still don’t know who he is, but Sandhausen’s Andrew Wooten is quickly making a name for himself in Germany’s second tier.
This weekend, Wooten picked up a goal and an assist to continue a fine opening to his 2014-15 campaign. Brad Guzan, Timmy Chandler and John Anthony Brooks also had solid weekends abroad and Mix Diskerud’s Rosenborg wrapped up second place in the Norwegian Tippeligaen.
Finally, Jozy Altidore may be on the move in January and Puebla’s Michael Orozco picked up an injury just before the international break which may affect the USMNT squad that is set to play Colombia and Ireland next week.

The English Premier League Boys
Sunderland and Everton tied 1-1 with Tim Howard making one save in the draw. Jozy Altidore didn’t get off the bench for Sunderland, but rumors, via Ryan Rosenblatt at Stars and Stripes FC, circulating this week linked him with a winter move to French side Lille.

After starting the last two weeks, Geoff Cameron lost his place in Stoke’s starting lineup this week, but he was subbed in after only nine minutes in the Potters’ 2-1 win over Tottenham.
Brad Guzan made five saves leading Aston Villa to a 0-0 draw with West Ham and the team’s first league point since September 13. He was Villa’s highest-ranked player via WhoScored.com.
Ze Germans
Timmy Chandler started and went the distance for Eintracht Frankfurt in their 4-0 loss to Bayern Munich.
Fabian Johnson didn’t get off the bench for Borussia Monchengladbach in their 1-0 loss to Borussia Dortmund. Joe Gyau (Dortmund) is still out injured.
Julian Green came on for the last 11 minutes of Hamburger SV’s 2-0 loss to Wolfsburg.
John Anthony Brooks played the final 35 minutes of Hertha Berlin’s 2-0 loss to Hannover.
In Bundesliga 2, Alfredo Morales went the distance in Ingolstadt’s 3-3 draw with Union Berlin.
Terrence Boyd started and played 67 minutes of RB Leipzig’s 1-0 loss to Darmstadt.
Andrew Wooten scored a goal and picked up an assist for Sandhausen in their 2-1 win over Nurnberg (video here).
Bobby Wood’s 1860 Munich plays on Monday.
In the English Championship
Brek Shea was on the bench, but he was an unused substitute for Birmingham this weekend. Jonathan Spector is still out injured for the Blues and Will Packwood did not make the 18.
Tim Ream went the distance at left-back in Bolton’s 3-1 win over Wigan on Friday.

Eric Lichaj was a second-half substitute and played the final 24 minutes of Nottingham Forest’s 2-1 win over Norwich.
Danny Williams started his second league match for Reading, returning from injury, but was Reading’s lowest-rated player in their 1-0 loss to Charlton.
Emerson Hyndman made the bench, but was an unused sub for Fulham this weekend.
Elsewhere in Europe
Aron Johannsson was AZ Alkmaar’s lowest-rated player in AZ Alkmaar’s 1-0 win over NAC Breda. Johannsson started and played 67 minutes.
Rubio Rubin started and went the distance in Utrecht’s 2-2 draw with Excelsior.
Mix Diskerud played all 90 minutes of Rosenborg’s 4-1 win over Stromsgodset. Rosenborg finished in second place as the Tippeligaen season came to an end.
Sacha Kljestan has worked his way back into Anderlecht’s lineup, first starting in their midweek 3-3 draw against Arsenal in Champions League action and then again in their 2-0 win over Gent this weekend.
Alejandro Bedoya played the final nine minutes of Nantes’ 2-1 win over Caen.
Conor O’Brien came on in the 59th minute of Wiener Neustadt’s 1-1 draw with Adm/Modling.
Josh Gatt (Molde) is still out injured.
South of the Border
Herculez Gomez started on the bench for Tigres in their match against Guadalajara. Jose Torres was not in the 18 for Tigres.
Greg Garza and Edgar Castillo both started and went the distance as Tijuana and Atlas tied 1-1. Joe Corona is out injured for Tijuana and Paul Arriola was not part in the 18 for the Xolos.
Michael Orozco came off in the 68th minute of Puebla’s 0-0 draw with Leon. According to MLSsoccer.com’s Tom Marshall, it was due to an injury.
Ventura Alvarado (America) and Alonso Hernandez (Monterrey) did not make the 18 for their respective squads.
