Penn State 13, Indiana 7 - Final
The Penn State Nittany Lions tried all day long to give the game away on offense, but their vaunted defense wouldn't allow it.
Defensive coordinator Bob Shoop's defense smothered the nation's leading rusher Tevin Coleman, who finished with a season-low 74 yards on 20 carries as PSU snapped a four-game losing streak with a 13-7 win over Indiana on the road.
There wasn't anything pretty about the win, but at least Penn State proved it is more than worthy of the nation's top-ranked rush defense.
Still, PSU coach James Franklin told the Big Ten Network after the game: "It was the prettiest win I've ever seen."
The ultimate survival for the Lions bumps their record to 5-4 on the season, and IU now has to win out to go to a bowl.
While PSU's offense couldn't get untracked, Bill Belton's 92-yard touchdown run to answer Mark Murphy's pick-six that put Indiana ahead 7-0 was huge. After that, the defense did the rest.
