
WWE SmackDown Moving Back to Thursdays Starting January 15, 2015
WWE officially announced that SmackDown would be switching nights, making the transition from its current time slot on Fridays to its new time of Thursdays at 8 p.m. ET on SyFy beginning January 15, 2015, according to the company’s website.
WWE Chief Revenue and Marketing Officer Michelle Wilson told WWE.com about the success of SmackDown on SyFy, saying, "WWE’s sizable and passionate fan base make SmackDown the No. 1 entertainment show on Syfy and the most-watched, regularly scheduled program among key demographics on the network. We look forward to bringing the WWE audience to Thursday nights on Syfy."

The move was originally reported in August when a photograph was revealed of a SmackDown trailer with “Thursdays 8/7c” on the side, but it was not confirmed by WWE until Thursday morning.
SmackDown debuted in 1999 and was originally aired on Thursday nights. The second longest-running weekly episodic program in United States television history made the move to Fridays on September 9, 2005, but it will make its triumphant return to Thursdays in January.
